Niles Charter Township segment, Phase 1

Indiana Michigan River Valley Trail

Bike the Bend Matching Grant

Bike the Bend is providing a $3,500 Matching Grant to encourage individuals and businesses to support this vital segment in the 34 mile multi-use area trail known as the Indiana Michigan River Valley Trail. (link to overview map).  Niles Charter Township is within $26,000 of securing all funding necessary to begin construction of Phase 1 in Spring 2014.  Construction could be completed by mid-Summer 2014.

You can help Niles Charter Township close this gap by making your tax deductible contribution. Donations can be made through the Michigan Gateway Community Foundation (MGCF) using Paypal at:  After specifying a donation amount and logging into Paypal there will be a box to check reading: Add Special Instructions to Seller.  Check that box and specify your donation is for the "IMRV Trail Niles Township - BTB Match."  This step is important to ensure your contribution ends up where it belongs!

Bike the Bend will match dollar for dollar all contributions up to a total of $3,500.  Does your employer offer a matching contribution plan?  If so, please get us the completed forms so that Bike the Bend can match that contribution as well.

  • Phase 1 is a 3.1 mile stretch from the Indiana Michigan state line to the 22 acre Brandywine Creek Nature Park.  Construction and completion is planned for 2014.

  • Phase 2 is in the planning stages and will most likely take a scenic route through the Nature Park and connect to the existing 2 ¼ mile Niles city Trail that travels to Plym Park.
