Bike the Bend Overnight Camping

Primitive overnight camping is available at St. Patrick’s County Park on Saturday, June 13. Space is limited and reservations are required. Please see details listed below.

Who can stay overnight?

Bike the Bend riders and volunteers may reserve a camping space by submitting a camping reservation form using your Bike the Bend registration confirmation code. A small fee assures you of a campsite or RV space. St. Patrick’s County Park has an entrance fee of $4 for St. Joseph County vehicles and a $5 for out-of-county vehicles.

Access times

Campers may arrive any time after 12 Noon on Saturday, June 13 and must depart by 2 pm on Sunday, June 14. (Times are Eastern Time)

Main park entrance and Laurel Rd will be closed to auto traffic until 11am on June 14. Please use themaintenance exit (then go east on State Line Rd to Kenilworth Rd south) during the event.

Motorhomes (30 feet in length or shorter) and tents are welcome.

At the Berta Shelter, adjacent to the “camping area” there are:

  • Heated restrooms, with flush toilets.
  • A water spigot with potable water.
  • A large “community” grill. Campers must supply their own charcoal, utensils and supplies.
  • One designated “community” campfire site. Firewood will be provided.
  • Multiple picnic tables.
  • Horseshoe pits, and a large playground are nearby.
  • Tents can be pitched in the grassy area south of the pine trees that spell St. Patrick’s. Campers will park their vehicles, in the designated lot, north of the Red Barn approximately 60 yards, away.
  • No campers or motorhomes over 30 feet. Motorhomes will park in the Berta Shelter lot.
  • Individual campfires and charcoal grills at tent or motorhome sites are not allowed. Campers may cook on propane camp stoves at their site.
  • There are no electrical or water hookups, and no pump out facilities.
  • There are no showers available.
  • There are no picnic tables at individual tent or motorhome areas.
  • Due to firewood transport restrictions in association with the Emerald Ash Borer, campers may not bring in any firewood. (wood for campers is arranged)
  • Access in and out of the park gates after 10:30pm is limited to emergencies, and must be coordinated with the on-site overnight security crew.
  • When you come to the park for Bike the Bend, you can experience a wide variety of outdoor recreational activities! Go canoeing or kayaking, learn to fish, play disc golf, throw a boomerang, practice archery or go geocaching!
